When Rembrandt painted people’s portraits, he would infuse who that person was on the inside into their portrait. If he thought that person was nice and kind, the portrait he painted would be beautiful to reflect that. However, if he thought the person he was painting was evil and meanspirited, the portrait would be purposefully painted to make that person look ugly.
In that spirit, today we celebrate The Great Leader Mao Zedong.
Mao is the founder of the People’s Republic of China and was the chairman of the Chinese Communist Party until his death in 1976. In 1966 he initiated the Culture Revolution in China, providing the bases for what we are experiencing in the United States today. Mao’s government and policies are responsible for the deaths of at least 80 million people.
Let’s celebrate The Great Leader with these two designs capturing his true nature:
These designs are a part of the Mindful Chaos collection for Unwoke Art, where I’ll make designs commenting on various aspects of the culture war we are currently engaged in.
You can get the design on t-shirts, hoodies, stickers, and posters. Photos of some of the products are below. If you would like the image on a product that’s not available, just leave a comment and let me know! I will try to accommodate requests.

The only great leader I celebrate is the leader of the cult. Great design though. Much love
